Hello! Today I tried to make a scrim for HTML, CSS, and JS. But even after I had added a ton of code and deleted the original text it was still just saying, [HELLO WORLD]
Hey @Asher1,
Could you outline the steps you took to save and run your code? Our current UI is a bit confusing but we’re in progress to update it.
Some things to note would be that to make sure all your files are saved (cmd/ctrl + s), and then refresh the mini browser via the refresh icon in there.
Well, I made something else on a different workspace, but I was trying to copy and paste the code onto a scrimba workspace. After I had pasted the code I pressed RUN multipul times but it was still showing HELLO WORLD. Later I tried again, but I wrote the the code insted. After all that it was still saying HELLO WORLD even thought I had Deleted it.
OK. Thanks for the info about files
I think it might be our UI since RUN doesn’t actually save the code and runs the previous state. You will need to save it, press run, and then refresh the browser. It’s super confusing as I just had a meeting with the team about it and we’re going to overhaul those buttons to make this more easier.
So for you to try, do (cmd/ctrl + s), and then refresh the mini browser via the refresh icon in there.
about (cmd/ctrl + s) i’m using a windows
Does the ctrl+s and then clicking on the mini browser refresh icon work?
that saves the whole entire page to my files
Mr.Roku, The only thing I want to do is download this code as a zip so I can deploy it to netlify. But i can’t download it as a zip on other workspaces. I tried command s but it saved the whole thing to my files. Do you know of any other way for my code to appear on the mini-Browser?
sorrry for all this trouble just for a scrimb ![]()

All good! Is there a cog wheel located in the bottom right of the scrim for you? We have the option to download the ZIP of the codebase and assets there.
But when I put code into the ports, nothing shows up on the minibrowser, as I showed you in the video. Is there any way to make my work/progress appear on the minibrowser?
Hello? is there any way?
Hey @Asher1 sorry about the wait, this slipped through my notifications. I’m going to loop in my colleague @Tom_Chant in here since we’ve been handling some other enquiries that’s quite similar to this issue.
So confirming the context - the minibrowser is not working at all for you ad not rendering your code? Can you also share a link to this scrim of yours? We can jump in and try to run it ourselves to check if anything is happening.
Hi @Asher1
It might also be useful to record us a “Loom” of what you are doing. (use loom.com which has a free tier - it’s great for making screen recordings) then hopefully we will be able to help you out!
Huh, so the HTML just started working but when I try to put in CSS it’s not loading. Here’s the link:
I also started messing around with the CSS and it started working too. Let me check the JS
Hi @Asher1 that scrim is working fine for me: html, css, and JS. Can edit each file and save with cmd+s/ctrl+s
Yes! It started working yesterday. The only thing is, I’m on a windows, and ctrl+s just saves the whole page to my files. But, yes. It’s working now. Thanks for taking your time to help me.
