I am facing typing issue in scrimba editor

as @MBC mentioned,

I am having the exact same issue. Took me a while to figure out that you had to double click on a file to be able to edit it.
Same issue with mouse, if I click anywhere on the screen, I am taken out of edit mode - so i can’t select anything or click to a certain location.

Additional info - I am doing the Learn React course, on windows, on x64 HP Envy x360 convertible laptop, in chrome . Really liking the course content!

Hey @orussmann could you screenshot the main page of the Vue.js course you’re on? I wonder if it’s our updated course or old one.

@Rakesh_Singh - potentially might be a device issue where our platform is having issues with input detection since your device is a convertible. Could you try if alt+clicking still takes you out of edit mode?

yes alt + clicking also takes me out of edit mode

@roku I am currently enrolled in a React course on Scrimba, and I’ve encountered a persistent bug with the text cursor in the editor. The cursor consistently lags behind the actual typing position by approximately 2 to 3 characters. This makes editing and writing code very difficult and disruptive to the learning experience. I am using Windows 11 and Google Chrome in Incognito mode.

Hey @RaulChess sorry for the delay here. I didn’t get a notification message for this.

Is this happening on all courses or just React? There is an issue we’re tracking with cursor issues but it’s only happening on some of our courses. Wondering it’s it’s localized to a lesson for you or global.

@Rakesh_Singh Unfortunately i think our platform is having issues with your convertible device. I’ll created a ticket for our tech team to see if they can figure out why but it might be a device conflict which is a bit hard to resolve.

I have also this issue in Fullstack path (Node.js).

Hey @Omar-Ragab-Projects,

Thanks for the report. I recently encountered this on Node as well (did a hard refresh to fix it up). Might be a random global issue that appears here and there. We’re still in progress for a resolution.

I was having the same issue with the cursor being at the wrong place, but somehow setting the zoom to 90% instead of my default 100% fixed it. Maybe it work for you too?

Just related to the previous comment, I’m also facing the text cursor bug in the React course. While fidgeting around, I realized that the delay happens or most prominent when you type something holding the ‘shift’ button (to get upper-case, (), {}, etc.). Hope this helps for you guys to resolve this issue

I am taking the node.js class and running into the same issue - cannot type on the screen to complete challenges. I’ve tried Edge, Firefox, and Chrome - all browsers display an error when first loading the course. I’ve opened Dev Tools and grabbed this screen capture…

Hey @jay.freeman, is it only for the node.js course? Also, what device are you running it on?

Also having this issue on Learn Tailwind CSS. Best I can do is type on the first line of a file…

Same result in Chrome 142.0.7444.60 and Edge 142.0.3595.53. Windows 10, Surface Pro 4 with touchscreen device disabled.

The behavior is predominant on the node.js course because it is very interactive. However, I have seen the same behavior in any course that is pausing to allow you to code. I’ve just bypasses the challenges and completed the course. Since I’m not actively coding, but am taking a look at the content for my team it is not a showstopper for me, but the same issues are showing up when my group is taking the courses as well.

I recommend zooming your browser to about 110%–125%. This can provide a quick and easy workaround for the issue.
