Suggestion: Add a Placement Test to Skip Repetitive Content in Career Paths

Hi Scrimba team and fellow learners :waving_hand:

I’d like to suggest a feature that could improve the learning experience for many of us.

I haven’t started the Frontend Career Path yet—not because I’m not interested, but because I’ve already studied many of the topics in smaller, more focused courses. The Career Path is great for structured learning, but for learners who already have some experience, it can feel a bit too broad or repetitive.

So here’s my idea: Could Scrimba introduce a placement test or skill assessment before starting a Career Path (like Frontend or FullStack)? Based on the results, the platform could automatically mark certain lessons or modules as “Done,” allowing learners to skip content they’ve already mastered.

This would:

  • Save time for experienced learners

  • Make the platform more flexible

  • Encourage more users to start Career Paths without worrying about redundancy

Platforms like freeCodeCamp offer similar functionality, and I think Scrimba could benefit from something like this too.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I like it! We had a very bare bones quiz earlier in V1 but no where as in depth as what you suggested. It was more a course finder form thing. Noted for us to explore more.
